It's good to be home!
After the home & church where I grew up in New York City (Bayside, Queens), Lake Ridge is now a close second for my longest residence (20 years & counting). Following my first 13 years of military assignments, the Air Force sent my family and I to Northern Virginia, where we found a home & family at Old Bridge UMC. I continued to serve another 10 years before retiring, and then answered a call to ministry, pastoring a few small churches in rural southern Fauquier County. And now, after a 10 year absence, I find myself appointed here at Old Bridge as an associate pastor...it's good to be home. Like the apostle Paul, my ministry is bi-vocational, in that I have a "regular" job that helps pay the bills. As a night-shift security supervisor at INOVA Fairfax, I face opportunities nightly to help keep our nation's premier level-1 trauma center safe & secure. And with those opportunities come more ways to share the good news of Christ Jesus to patient's, visitors & staff, along with you, the people of Old Bridge. This includes my nights off (Wednesday & Sunday), which allow me to help lead the Wednesday night prayer service, worship on Sunday mornings, and even preach occasionally.
"My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who watch for the morning.." ~ Psalm 130:6 (NRSV)
